LUSH haul #2 #LUSH #love #natural #animalfriendly #shopping #haul #earth #karma
me: I’m reading this book for school and I no longer want any pesticides or insecticides used on the lawn.
mom: oh we never use those! those are so bad!
me: okay good.
mom: you know, after you’re done your course if you listen to everything they teach you you might as well live in a bubble.
it is so hard talking with someone who picks apart everything you say.
lately I feel like i’m falling off the face of the earth.
I am really sick and tired of people criticizing my choice to pursue a university education in environmental studies. I’m fully confident in my decision, but pretty much everyone, except my amazing boyfriend and bestie S, have put me down for it saying…
oh everyone has degrees these days… it really doesn’t mean anything
why would you want to do that??
stick to what you know. or get an office job.
it’s a waste of 4 years
what kind of jobs are even environmental…
why would you go back to school? what’s the point? you’re 22. why don’t you just stay and work here…
oh you’re such a dreamer…
yea, these are all things people said to me, people in my life who i’m surrounded by. close minded fucks. oh did i just say that? oops.
Environmental studies is one of the fastest growing areas of study and employment in the world.
One of the main reasons I chose this program, which no one really knows because I’m honestly too shy to say, is i hope to one day make a real contribution to society/the world. maybe join a green organization. these are things im passionate about and i want to run with it. It’s just now i feel i’m being watched and judged.
I really hate it.
